Dr. Joel Roskind Puts Patient Safety First

When Dr. Joel Roskind retired from his 30-year career as a surgeon and teacher, he still wanted to work on behalf of patients to ensure their continual safety and high-quality care. In addition to his background as a board certified plastic surgeon, he worked as a Facility Inspector for the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF or quad A). He took on this additional role because he strongly believed in being a patient advocate. His contributions included the examination of ambulatory surgical facilities and reporting their degree of compliance with the established safety criteria. The health and safety standards put forth by quad A were the most highly regarded in the medical industry and Dr. Joel Roskind had the task of assuring that facilities he inspected fully adhered to the mandated requirements.

Even though he chose to retire from his own private medical practice, Dr. Joel Roskind wasn't ready to stop working on behalf of patients. He became a sought after consultant to other physicians and surgeons looking to ready their own ambulatory surgical facilities. Today, he helps doctors prepare their facilities for certification and makes sure the standards are upheld. The majority of major health care insurance companies require that surgical facilities are 100% certified and make this a condition of their service coverage. By consulting for physicians and surgeons, Dr. Roskind continues to work for patients and maintains the same high industry standards which he helped to establish.
